When a DAMO profile is created is the local .pst file encrypted?

Technote Number: 1228991

Problem:
In releases of DAMO prior to 6.5.4, the local .pst file is not automatically
encrypted. In earlier releases of DAMO the encryption can be enabled manually.

Starting in DAMO 6.5.5 (ships with Domino 7.0.1 Server) the local .pst file is
created with "Compressible Encryption".

Users should also be aware that, unlike that of the Notes Client, encryption in
DAMO has limited security. The "encryption" being used in this case is actually
an algorithm that makes the file smaller; just a "zip" file is compressed.

If security is a concern, this should only be part of the steps to protect data
contained in the .pst file. Additionally, it can be password protected. It can
be placed in the C:\Documents and Settings folder hierarchy which uses Windows
native security. The .pst file itself can have access controlled through its
File properties.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 7.0.1 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

Install/Setup/Registration
SPR# NRBY6J7QYY - With this fix, .pst files will now be encrypted by default.
